Bashundhara chairman, 5 others asked to surrender
The High Court today directed Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan alias Shah Alam and five others to surrender before the lower court concerned in Gazipur within eight weeks in a land-related case filed in 2010.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order during hearing three separate petitions filed by the accused seeking an extension of earlier HC orders that granted them bail in the case and stayed its trial proceedings.
The bench cancelled the orders of bail and stay, and asked the lower court to resume the trial proceedings of the case against the accused.
