‘Bangladesh role model’
Bangladesh is currently working as a role model in curbing terrorism and militancy in the country, speakers at a seminar said.
They said this while addressing a seminar titled 'Role of law enforcement agencies to prevent terrorism in Bangladesh' at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University at Santosh in Tangail.
Besides implementing the necessary laws, the government is engaging different law enforcement agencies in this regard, the speakers said, adding that active participation of people from all communities is a must for it.
Criminology and police science (CPS) department organised the seminar at the university auditorium in the morning where students and teachers of CPS took part.
Bangladesh's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (CTTC) Chief Monirul Islam, also additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, spoke as the main speaker at the seminar.
Chaired by Jahirul Islam, chairman of CPS department of the university, Tangail Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam and Dr ASM Saifullah, dean of life science faculty, also delivered speeches at the programme.
Speakers said the research works by the students of CPS department can play a vital role in helping the law enforcement agencies to prevent terrorism and militancy.
