2 girls raped in Cox’s Bazar, 2 held
Cox’s Bazar police last night detained two persons in connection with the rape of two adolescent girls in the district on Friday.
The detainees were Jamal Uddin, 50, and Md Sohel, 28, the father and brother of the two alleged rapists Musa and Nurul respectively, said AKM Safiul Alam Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Chakaria Police Station.
The victims were sent to Cox’s Bazar One-Step-Crisis centre for medical examination this morning, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting OC.
Father of one of the victims said he and his wife went to Cox’s Bazar town on Friday for treatment purpose and could not return home at Berapara in Chakaria upzaila.
“When we came back home next day evening, our daughter told us that two wicked youths of the same area violated her and her friend, who accompanied her during the night in their absence,” the father said.
There are marks of violation on their bodies, he added.
“First, we didn’t inform anyone considering social stigma but on Monday evening I filed the case,” the father said.
After the case was filed, police detained the duo, OC Safiul said.
“We are conducting raids to arrest the main culprits,” he said.
