Step up revenue collection, Muhith urges DCs
Finance Minister AMA Muhith today urged the deputy commissioners to step up revenue collection in a bid to facilitate the government’s development works across the country.
The minister said this while speaking on the first day of the three-day annual conference of deputy commissioners held at the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
Talking to the reporters after the conference this evening, Muhith told reporters that the DCs have been directed to take necessary steps to increase revenue collection in a bid to facilitate the development works by the government.
A number of decisions have been made on the first day of the conference. The decisions include providing adequate assistance to the poor and helpless, increasing the special funds for DCs, and taking necessary steps to bring back the children involved in hazardous industries to the mainstream.
The ministries of Disaster and Relief, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, and Labour and Employment issued a joint statement in this regard this evening.
Ministers and state ministers of the concerned ministries and deputy commissioners of all the districts took part in the conference.
