Arms making factory unearthed

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) unearthed an arms making factory in the town early yesterday and arrested a youth. 

The arrestee, Sohel, 22, is son of Mohammad Habib of Phulbaria upazila.

Lt Col Shariful Islam, commander of Rab-14, said they raided a house owned by poultry trader Moinuddin around 2:00am.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Moinuddin's son Noor Uddin, 25, and his two accomplices Akash, 22, and Raju, 20, fled the scene, but the Rab members managed to detain Sohel from there.

Rab searched the house and seized four pistols, seven bullets, four magazines, two drill machines, a cutter and arms making materials.

During primary interrogation, Sohel said he used to assist Noor Uddin, an accused in eight cases including those for murder, in making arms and selling those in different areas across the country.
