Addicted son stabs parents, four others
A drug addict youth stabbed six people, including his parents and sister, in Nesarabad upazila of the district yesterday morning.
Villagers caught Tareq, 35, son of Siddiqur Rahman of Balihari village under Sutiakathi union in the upazila, and handed him over to police.
Injured Siddiqur, his wife Laily Begum, daughter Nasrin and their neighbours Murshida, Kabir and Kabir's daughter Tanzila were admitted to Nesarabad Upazila Health Complex.
Kabir and Nasrin were later shifted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medial College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
Local UP member Babul Mia said Tareq, an auto-rickshaw driver, locked in an altercation with his parents over a family feud in the morning. At one stage, when he attempted to kill them his elderly parents ran for shelter in Kabir's house.
But aggrieved Tareq chased his parents and stabbed them with a sharp weapon, Babul said, adding that as Kabir, Nasrin and others came to save the two Tareq also stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving the six injured.
Filing of a case in this regard is under process, Officer-in-Charge of Nesarabad Police Station KM Tarikul Islam said.
