Addict stabbed dead by son

A drug addict man was stabbed to death by his son over a family dispute at Chatakumira'para in the town on Saturday.

District Additional Superintendent of Police Sonatan Chakraborty said the son stabbed his father with a sharp knife during an altercation.

The victim, Abdur Rashid, 50, son of Yasin Ali of the area, was taken to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Police detained the son, Md Swapan, 20, from Charmatha area of the town on Saturday night, said Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Kamruzzaman Mia, and also seized the knife from him.

Locals said the father and the son were auto-rickshaw drivers in the town.

Rashid used to torture his wife and son, police quoted locals as saying.

The OC said a case was yet to be filed with the police station.

This correspondent could not contact any family member of the victim as they have gone into hiding.
