9 accused sent to jail on surrender
Nine accused in the case for killing Sramik League leader Fakhrul Islam Bullet were sent to jail yesterday.
They surrendered before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court and sought bail. Magistrate Mehedy Hasan rejected their bail prayer and sent them to jail.
The accused are local union parishad (UP) member Aminul Islam Khan, 44, Bipul Khan, 35, Malek Kasai, 42, Mizan Miah, 35, Salam Miah, 40, Mithu Islam, 26, Milon Islam, 26, Anis Miah, 43, and Nengra Jahangir, 42.
President of Mahendranagar union unit of Sramik League, Fakhrul Islam Bullet, 40, was hacked to death by the alleged killer Aminul Islam Khan and his gang members at Khan market area of Mahendranagar in Lalmonirhat sadar upazila on the night of June 27 this year.
The Sramik League leader was killed as he protested against Aminul Islam Khan and his gang members' criminal activities in the locality. Police said the slain leader's father Enamul Haque Sarker lodged a murder case with Lalmonirhat sadar thana on June 28.
