5.4 lakh yaba pills seized in Teknaf
Law-enforcers today recovered 5, 44,000 pieces of contraband drug yaba pills in separate drives at different points of Naf river in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
A team of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 5 lakh pills, worth around Tk 25 crores, from an engine-run boat on Naf river in Shah Parir Dwip around 5:30am, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Tazkin Reza, station commander of Coast Guards in Teknaf.
The boat was seized during the drive but the smugglers managed to flee the scene, he said.
Meanwhile, a patrol team of Border Guard Bangladesh recovered 44 thousand yaba pills in abandoned condition from Naityangpara area of Cox’s Bazar municipality and Heccharkhal Point of Naf river early morning, said Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2.
The pills will be destroyed later in presence of concerned authorities, he said.
