5 'JMB men' arrested in Habiganj

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested five alleged members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Habiganj Sadar upazila on Sunday.

The five JMB men were held from Dighalbag area on Sunday night, Md Moniruzzaman, additional superintendent of police of Rab-9, said yesterday morning. 

The arrestees are Haji Md Abdul Kuddus, 52, Md Ruhul Amin, 26, Md Nazrul Islam, 40, Md Abdun Nur, 38, and Abul Kalam, 50, all hailing from Sadar upazila.

The Rab team also recovered some  books on jihad and anti-state leaflets from their possession, the official said.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees revealed their plans to deteriorate law and order and create anarchy targeting the Victory Day celebrations, he added.

The arrestees were later handed over to Habiganj Police Station.
