34th BCS non-cadres to be appointed at schools
Candidates of 34th Bangladesh Civil Services (BCS) exams, who could not secure any cadre position after passing the test, will be recruited as assistant teachers at government-run secondary schools as per a government decision taken today.
The decision came at a meeting held at Public Service Commission (PSC) today in a bid to resolve the crisis of teachers at secondary schools, meeting sources said.
“We will send a letter to the PSC by tomorrow telling them about the number of vacant positions at government-run secondary schools, Ruhi Rahman, joint secretary of the education ministry, told The Daily Star.
She said: “We hope we will get consent from the PSC to initiate the recruitment process before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.”
At present, 1,744 posts remain vacant in 333 institutions. Fifty percent of the vacancy is expected to be fulfilled by the candidates of the 34th BCS non-cadre candidates.
