3 killed in clashes
Three people were killed in clashes in Moulvibazar and Magura yesterday.
At least two people were killed and 25 others injured in a clash between two groups at Lamua of Moulvibazar Sadar , reports our correspondent.
The deceased were Md Abdul Malik, 54, of area, and Shafiqur Rahman, 25, of Purbo Kholilpur village.
Police and locals said there was a land dispute between Lekash Mia and Sadbar Mia and the two groups attacked each other with lethal weapons around 11:00am, leaving two people dead and 25 others from both sides injured.
Police arrested eight people in this connection.
An elderly man was killed and nine others were injured in a clash at Chandpur village in Magura Sadar upazila, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.
The victim, Iqlas Mollah, 60, of the village, was the supporter of local union parishad member Iman Ali.
Police and locals said there was a conflict between village leader Fulmia Mandol and Iman Ali. Following an altercation between the men of the rivals over previous UP elections, a group of people attacked the house of Iqlas on Friday evening.
They hacked Iqlas, his son Abul Islam, 30, wife Sazia Begum, 50, and neighbour Ali Hossain, 36, among 10 people.
Iqlas later died at Magura Sadar Hospital.
Police arrested 13 people in this connection, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Tarikul Islam.
