50 hurt as cops clash with traders in Bhola
At least 50 people including eight policemen were injured in a clash between local street vendors and police in Monpura upazila of Bhola this morning.
The clash erupted when police asked the traders to free Hajirhat Road and they refused, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
At one stage, law enforcers charged batons on the vendors when they threw brick-bats targeting the law enforcers, said eyewitnesses.
Police fired several blank shots to bring the situation under control, said Md Sahin Khan, officer-in-charge of Monpura Police Station.
All the injured were taken to Monpura Upazila Health Complex, police said.
