16 BNP activists held

Police arrested 16 leaders and activists of BNP on Tuesday.

"Informed that leaders and activists of BNP were holding a meeting in Kochi's house, police raided the place and arrested them," said Sadar Police Station OC Redwanur Rahim.

The arrestees are Bokhtiar Rahman Kochi, joint convener of the unit, Shakhawat Hossain, a leader of Nawabganj upazila BNP, Wakil Uddin, Abdul Nur, Akteruzzaman, Md Zakaria, Md Abdullah, Siddiqur Rahman, Md Faruk, Manikul Islam, Abdul Ali Bokul, Mahfuzar Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, Md Nuruzzaman, Farshidul Islam and Khairul Islam.

Police sent them to jail through a court.

Police filed a case under Special Powers Act against 70 people, naming 38 leaders and activists of BNP. The 16 were shown arrested in the case.
