11 held while solving leaked question paper
Police arrested 11 people including a few madrasa teachers while they were solving the English question paper outside the Dakhil examination centre at Rajapur Fazil Madrasa during the English first paper examination yesterday morning.
“Tipped off that some teachers were solving question paper at a room of a boarding house of Rajapur Fazil Madrasa behind the Rajapur Dakhil examination centre, a team from Rajapur Police Station led by me raided the spot in the presence of Rajapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer ABM Sadikur Rahman and detained them," said Abdul Kaiyum, sub-inspector of Rajapur Police Station.
Police also seized a few English books that were used for solving the questions and a photocopy of the question paper.
The arrestees are Habibur Rahman, 56, Abu Hanif, 37, Nurul Islam, 37, all from Angria village, Abul Kalam, 42, of Putiakhali, Nazrul Islam, 55, and Kamrul Islam, 18, of Naikathi, Golam Kibria, 18, of Suktagar, and Sobur Akon, 28, of Challishcownia village in Rajapur upazila, Samim Jomadder, 26, of Chesri, and Jakir Hossain, 50, of Kochua village in Kathalia, and Mehedi Hasan, 26, of Ashiar in Jhalakathi Sadar upazila.
They were in the police station at the time of filing this report at 1:30pm.
"Most of them are madrasa teachers. It is not clear how the men from three upazilas met at the place for doing the bad act on the examination day," said SI Abdul Kaiyum.
A group of dishonest teachers are engaged in solving questions and sending it inside the examination hall daily, said a few madrasa teachers performing duty at the examination hall, seeking anonymity.
“We have no connection with the question leakage. It was done outside the examination centre,” said Md Abdul Hye, secretary of the examination hall.
Meanwhile, two students were expelled from the centre for adopting unfair means in the English examination yesterday.
