1 killed over money return

The body of a hosiery trader was found hanging in a house near Mahimaganj bazar in Gobindaganj upazila yesterday.

The deceased was Abdur Rahman Manu, 40, of Pepulia village in Kochashaher union of the upazila.

Manu's family members said six months ago, he gave Tk 5.65 lakh to Moshiur Rahman, a bank employee in Mohimaganj bazar, for getting him a job.

Moshiur could neither provide Manu with a job nor return the money despite repeated requests, they said.

Manu's nephew Faruk Hossain said, "After an arbitration two weeks ago, Moshiur refunded Tk 1 lakh to Manu and promised to give the remaining amount within  a few days."

Moshiur called Manu to his house on Friday evening for the purpose. Manu left home for Mahimaganj and did not return at night. His anxious relatives rushed to Moshiur's house in the morning, but Moshiur and his family members had fled.

Manu's body was found in a room in front of Moshiur's house, Manu's relatives said.

The body was sent to hospital for autopsy, said Gobindaganj Police Station OC Mujibar Rahman.
