“Rise High Bangladesh” at Jahangirnagar University
Aiming to encourage innovative export ideas of country’s young generation, the contest 'Rise High Bangladesh’ reached Jahangirnagar University (JU) on August 30, 2016. The daylong event was held at the premises of central cafeteria just behind the Amar Ekushe sculptor, with a good response from the students.
The programme area was decorated with banners and posters containing information of the contest. Apart from the main stall, additional three stalls was set up in front of IBA, Arts and Humanities and Business Studies Faculty respectively where The Rise High volunteers explained to the students the objectives, incentives and rules of participation by distributing leaflets.
Despite regular classes and examinations, a large number of students approached the booths before and after their class.
The puzzle solving contest attracted a large number of students. The students were required to pick a clue card with information on a country's imported goods, and they had to guess the country. Successful participants were awarded with prizes.
Sumaiya Alamgir , a second year student of Geography and Environment, after winning prize shared excitedly , "I am glad to be a part of the contest. It was very educative and inspiring."
One of the aspirant participants, Mashahed Hassan Simanta said, ‘I look forward to forming a team and will definitely try to contribute an idea. It might be on exceptional works from others”.
The programme also generated interest among the university staffs. The exuberance of the youth proves that there is a huge space for such kind of idea generating contests.
