Cop among 4 killed in city road crashes
Four people including a policeman were killed in two separate road accidents in the city’s Sabujbagh and Gulistan areas today.
One of the victims was identified as Bikash Ghosh, 38, a sub-inspector (SI) of Sabujbagh Police Station, and another person was an unknown helper of a covered van.
The accident took place near Sabujbagh Buddha Temple when a covered van hit the police official around 1:15am, Rawshan Ara, duty officer of the Sobujbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star Online.
Bikash was controlling traffic on the road while the covered van knocked down him, said the police official.
The SI succumbed to his injuries around 4:00am after he was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, she added.
The helper of the van died on the spot.
Bodies of the victims were kept at the DMCH for autopsy.
In a separate incident, Asfia Khatun, 30, and an unidentified man died on the spot when a speedy vehicle hit them on the 'Mayor Hanif Flyover' in Gulistan area, Tapan Chandra, officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station told The Daily Star.
