Construction worker shot by extortionists in Dhaka
Failing to realise toll from a construction firm owner, extortionists shot and injured a worker in Tejkunipara of Dhaka today.
Harun-ur-Rashid, 50, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital with bullet injuries on his right knee and left foot, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
Two armed criminals entered the under-construction building of Avenue Builders at Tejkunipara about 8:30am and looked for its owner, the report described.
At one point, they shot Rashid and left the scene.
Contacted, Wahiduzzaman, an adviser to Avenue Builders, told the daily that he had no idea about the reason behind the attack.
According to police sources, a group of extortionists have been demanding money from Avenue Builder owner Ali Asgar.
