Zia's brother Kamal dies
Ahmed Kamal, younger brother of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman, passed away yesterday. He was 70.
Kamal was taken to Holy Family Hospital after he fell sick at his Sabujbagh residence at noon. He died at the hospital in the afternoon, said Syrul Kabir Khan, an official of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's press wing.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Juma prayers today.
Kamal had been suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and other complications, said Khan.
Kamal was the only living brother among five brothers of Zia. He retired as the general manager of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation in 2006. He was a confirmed bachelor.
Kamal came into the discussion last year, when he had announced that he was likely to launch a new political party within a year or two.
