Yaba peddler plays journalist card

Three persons including one posing as a journalist were arrested with 3,000 pieces of yaba pills in Kotwali area of the port city yesterday.

The arrestees are Foyejul Alam, 38, Shahadat Hossain Khokon, 37 and Rupna Akhter, 30, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.

Police recovered the contrabands while searching their belongings in front of Purabi Cinema Hall in Ashraf Ali road area.

“During the search Foyejul introduced himself as a reporter of an online news portal and showed his identity card. But when we searched his bag, we found the contrabands inside,” the OC said.

A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station in this regard.
