World Water Day observed

World Water Day 2017 was observed in the capital yesterday to create awareness about water usage.

Under a programme  funded by HSBC Bank, WaterAid Bangladesh in partnership with Sajida Foundation organised different programmes at T & T Adarsha Girls' High School in Mohakhali, and at BK Aftab Govt Primary School in Tejgaon.

The schools are getting facilities for sanitation and maintaining hygiene specially at toilets under the project.

Head teacher of T & T School Sultana Ferdousi Khanam said the project was a great help for around 2,000 students and staff.

Imrul Kayes Muniruzzaman, director, fundraising and organisational learning, WaterAid Bangladesh, said they provided the schools with freshwater gathered by rain water harvesting.

Francois de Maricourt, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh, and Zahida Fizza Kabir, executive director Sajida Foundation spoke, among others.
