Work to ensure 100pc conviction
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has given priority to quality investigations to ensure a hundred percent conviction of real offenders.
In this regard, the ACC has recently issued a set of instructions for its officials from assistant directors to directors general (DGs) to work with professionalism and utmost sincerity.
ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said they are trying their best to increase the conviction rate to 100 percent.
The conviction rate in graft cases has already increased to 69 percent in 2017, he added.
He asked his colleagues to realise that the ACC is their organisation and work accordingly to brighten the image of the commission in the days to come.
The conviction rate in graft cases filed by the ACC was only 20 percent, but it reached 54 percent in 2016.
Mahmood said the commission is trying to complete investigations within the stipulated timeframe set by its rules.
The ACC has asked the authorities concerned to ensure the appearance of witnesses before courts on fixed dates with ACC lawyers concerned for a swift trial.
It has also decided to give DA (dearness allowance) to the prosecution witnesses to ensure their timely appearance in courts.
