US embassy celebrates 4th of July

On the occasion of 4th of July, the Independence Day of the United States, US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat yesterday said the day is a reminder of the enduring truth that people can design their own future -- one that constantly seeks to ensure the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all its citizens.

“… Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, anticipated our celebration today, writing, 'For ourselves, let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them'," she said.

Those rights and founding principles, in many ways, connect the two countries and serve the common welfare of the citizens of both countries as well as the world, Marcia added.
