Tragic end of 2 lives

Moriam Begum was plucking vegetables near a rail track. Her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Maimuna, was with her.

She did not think that they were going to be a part of a tragedy.

The 30-year-old became jumpy as her daughter was heading for the rail track.

She too was approaching towards a rail track to save her minor daughter. But, her effort went in vain.

As soon as she rushed to the spot, a speeding train came and fatally ran them over.

The incident happened in Faujdarhat area of Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong yesterday morning.

Shahadat Hossain, member of Salimpur Union Parishad (Ward No-6), said Moriam, wife of a rickshaw-van puller, used to live in a nearby slum.

The UP member quoted witnesses as describing the incident.
