Torture: House help testifies for Shahadat
House help Mahfuza Akhtar Happy has testified for ex-national cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan Nrittya saying that the duo did not torture her.
Nrittya sometimes rebuked her as she did not want to work or could not work properly, she said in her testimony at court today.
“I fell victim of an accident that broke my leg,” Happy said while giving her statement in connection with a case filed for allegedly torture on her.
Judge Tanjina Ismail of the fifth Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression recorded her statement and fixed August 31 for the next hearing.
In her statement, Happy said, “I worked as a domestic help at Shahadat’s residence for over seven months.
After her statement, the prosecution made her a hostile witness and questioned on different points on the repression and torture.
On September 6 last year, domestic help Happy brought allegations of torture by Shahadat and his wife. Later, a case was filed against the couple with Mirpur Police Station.
