Tk 8 lakh snatched from ex-cop

A retired police officer fell prey to a criminal who made off with Tk 8 lakh from him in broad daylight yesterday in Rangpur city.

The incident took place in one of city's busiest areas, Payra Chattar, where retired OC Mohsin Ali and his wife Lovely Begum came to withdraw the amount from a bank.

After making the withdrawal around noon, Mohsin put the cash, wrapped in a piece of cloth, on the seat of his motorbike.

He noticed some bank notes lying under his bike. While his wife stood next to him, he bent over to pick up the notes.

A man appeared from nowhere and disappeared after snatching the bundles of cash from top of the bike.

Mohsin filed a general diary with Rangpur Sadar Police Station, said Md Moniruzzaman, in-charge of Nawabganj police outpost.
