N'ganj fire injures 3 workers

Three workers were injured in a fire while working at a ship-breaking yard in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj  yesterday.

The victims are Kabir Hossain, 27, Billal Hossain, 40, and Sohrab Mia, 20.

Based on primary investigation, Hasanul Alam, special officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Bandar, said the accident occurred due to a leakage from a defected gas cylinder in Khondokar Engineering and Dockyard.

A fire-fighting unit doused the blaze in half an hour, he said.

The victims were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, added Alam.

Chandan Biswas, manager of the dockyard, said, "We brought four to five workers from another dockyard. Accidentally, the fire broke out from the gas line where three workers were injured."
