Three killed, 28 injured in road accidents
Three people were killed and 28 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Manikganj, a teenage boy was killed and his aunt injured as a sand-laden truck hit their motorcycle from behind on Manikganj-Singair-Hemayetpur road in Aurangabad area of Sadar upazila.
The deceased -- Rajeeb Hossain, 16, son of Jainuddin Mia from Baimail village in Singair upazila -- was a tenth-grader of Nabaran High School in the upazila.
Police said the two were going to Manikganj town.
In Barisal, Zahirul, 20, a helper of a bus driver, was killed while 15 others were injured in a collision between the bus and a truck in Shikarpur area of Ujirpur upazila.
In Jessore, a woman was killed and 12 others were wounded as a bus hit a human haulier on Chaugachha-Kotchandpur road in Ichhapur Battala area of Chaugachha upazila. The deceased and the injured were all passengers of the human haulier.
Rokeya Begum, 50, was killed on the spot. Her husband Abu Bakr, from Jagodishpur village in Chaugachha, was among the injured, said police.
The victims were rushed to Jessore General Hospital and the upazila health complex.
