Three JMB men arrested in Rajshahi

Rapid Action Battalion arrested three JMB members with firearms and ammunition in Jamira village of Puthia upazila in Rajshahi early yesterday.

They are Shariful Islam, 45, Zakaria Hossain, 43, and Ataur Rahman, 35, from Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj, says a Rab press release.

Rab seized two foreign pistols, eight bullets, four bombs, bomb making materials and two jihadi books from their possession.

However, six accomplices of the three managed to flee.

Shariful confessed to involving with the banned militant outfit since 2002. Zakaria was the group’s regional bomb expert and Ataur organised meetings to plot subversive activities.

They also admitted that they were regrouping in Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Naogaon.
