Three children drown in pond

Three children of a family met tragic death in a pond at Chakboitha village in Ukhia upazila on Monday night.

The dead were identified as six-year-old Tashfia and her three-year-old sister Safa Marwa, daughter of Abdul Quader; and their cousin Fahim, 8, son of Abu Siddique.

Mofi Uddin, a relative of Quader, said the three were playing with other children. At one stage, they ran and fell into a nearby pond.

Later, their bodies were recovered from the pond, said Officer-in-Charge of Ukhia Police Station Abuul Khayer.
