Take actions against corrupt BMS members
National Freedom Fighters' Foundation (NFFF) yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) demanding actions against former committee members and officers of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad (BMS) who had allegedly misappropriated funds meant for insolvent freedom fighters.
According to the memorandum, former committee members and officers of BMS misappropriated about Tk 74 crore meant for insolvent freedom fighters between 1972 and 2007 and Tk 10 crore between 2007 and 2015.
Referring to a High Court order given in May 2017 directing the ACC to take measures regarding the alleged corruption, the NFFF yesterday gave the ACC a seven-day ultimatum to file graft cases or face contempt of court charges, the memorandum added.
NFFF members also formed a human chain before the ACC's Segunbagicha headquarter in the capital.
Contacted, ACC's Director General (legal and prosecution) Moyeedul Islam said they sent the file to the ACC officials concerned following the HC order.
ACC's Director General (admin) Muhammad Munir Chowdhury, who received the memorandum, said the matter is still under enquiry.
