President urges doctors at 3rd convocation of BSMMU

President Abdul Hamid yesterday asked doctors to consider the financial ability of common people to ensure nobody is deprived of proper treatment for lack of money.

He also urged them to perform their duties with diligence and an attitude of providing professional services.

The president made the call while addressing the third convocation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at Shahbag in the capital.

About media report regarding alleged wrong treatment, President Abdul Hamid asked the new doctors to remain alert to protect the reputation of the great profession.

President Abdul Hamid, also chancellor of the university, said the country's doctors should try with the best of their abilities to ensure that nobody is deprived from healthcare services. He also urged doctors to be more knowledgeable with the latest invention and technologies as medicine and treatment methods are being modernised day by day in the country. 

The president also suggested for introducing e-service using the modern information technology to reach treatment facilities at the doorstep of grassroots. The president also put emphasis on creating awareness about maintaining healthy life to help reduce the curable diseases.

He congratulated the new graduates and advised them to work for the country and its people by providing respective merit, talent, treatment and valuable advice.

Recalling the role of nurses in medical sector, the president stressed the need for imparting training and higher degrees in the BSMMU as they can contribute to the mankind. On the occasion, seven expert physicians were given PhD degree for their outstanding contribution to this sector while six students got gold medals for their outstanding academic results.
