Schoolgirl 'raped' by uncle

A school girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in Jessore town on Saturday.

The alleged rapist Alamin, 36, raped the child in a mahagony garden in Kholadanda area in the town.

After the incident, he threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone, the girl alleged.

She, however, told her mother and materal grandmother about the incident the same night, said the girl's mother.

The grandmother of the child reported the incident to Kotwali Police Station, and admitted the girl to a local hospital the same night.

A medical test has been conducted on the girl, and reports are yet to arrive, doctors said.

Meanwhile, Manjurul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said he has recorded the girl's statement and will take actions once the reports are in hand.

“Alamin is absconding since the incident took place,” the police official added.

The third-grader and her mother have been living with her maternal grandmother since 2012, soon after her father died, said the child's mother.

On Saturday, her paternal uncle visited her and lured her to a place. Later, he raped her in a garden on the way.
