SC verdict on time petition tomorrow

The Supreme Court will pass an order tomorrow on a petition filed by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) seeking one more year for demolition of its 15-storey building constructed illegally on the capital's Begunbari Canal and Hatirjheel Lake.

BGMEA recently filed the petition saying they were not fully prepared to flatten such a huge building.

The SC on last October 8 extended its stay  till April 12. Last year on March 5, the SC dismissed a petition filed by BGMEA seeking review of its verdict upholding a High Court order of 2011 for demolishing the structure. Advocate Quamrul Haque Siddiqui appeared for BGMEA yesterday.
