SB chief dissatisfied over district political leaders' profiles
Special Branch of police chief Javed Patwari yesterday asked superintendents of police (SP) to be more sincere in preparing district political leaders' detailed profiles considering the upcoming national elections this year.
While addressing a meeting of top SB officials and district SPs in the capital's Rajarbagh Police Lines marking “Police Week 2018”, he expressed dissatisfaction over poor individual profiles of local political leaders prepared by some of the district SB offices.
A number of participants attending the meeting said, “The SB chief said that in some districts negligence is apparent in the collection of local political leaders' personal information for the profiles.”
SB officials in the district level works under the SPs.
Chaired by Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque, Chief of Criminal Investigation Department Sheikh Hemayet Hossain also spoke at the programme attended by high officials from SB and Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Referring to allegations of SB members taking bribe during passport verification process, the SB chief Javed asked all SPs to closely monitor the process to curb the allegations. He also asked them to be cautious as displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar may attempt to get Bangladesh passports.
Stressing the need for swift transfer of collected data of a passport applicant to the SB headquarters, he also asked the SPs to assign class one officers to verify passport information of BCS and other government officers.
