Four people were killed and 26 others injured in road accidents across the country in last two days.

Our Chittagong correspondent reports, Abu Bakar Siddique, 45, of Bogra, was killed as an unidentified vehicle ran him over while he was crossing road at Badamtoli intersection in the port city early yesterday.

Meanwhile, a schoolgirl was killed and six other persons were injured when a truck hit a human hauler carrying them at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong yesterday evening.

The deceased was Zarifa Akhter, 12, daughter of Jashim Uddin of Masjidda of Sitakunda.

One of the injured, Zarifa's mother Kohinur Akhter, is now undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Our Manikganj correspondent adds, Ishita Akter, 5, daughter of Sohel Rana of Ukiah village of Manikganj Sadar upazila, died after a battery-run auto-rickshaw hit her at Khalpar in Manikganj town yesterday.

Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, 20 activists of Jatiya Party Birganj upazila unit were hurt as their bus veered out of control and fell into a roadside ditch at  in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Friday night.

They were on the way to Dhaka to attend the party's grand rally yesterday.

Fire fighters rushed them to Phulbari and Birampur upazila health complexes. In Faridpur, shopkeeper Bidyut Sorkar, 45 died,  in Madhukhali municipality after a truck ran him over on Dhaka-Khulna highway yesterday, reports our correspondent.
