Restaurant owner found dead in capital
Police recovered the body of a restaurant owner from East Goran area in the capital yesterday, nine hours after he went missing.
Joynal Hawlader, 38, joint secretary of Motor Sramik League of the local ward, hailed from Barguna and used to run a small restaurant along with his second wife in Purba Rajarbag area, said Nijam Uddin, victim’s elder brother.
A scarf was tied around Joynal’s neck, said Khilgaon police. After autopsy, Dhaka Medical College morgue sources said he was strangled.
He went out of his residence on Thursday night with Tk 5,000 to buy some groceries but did not return, Nijam said.
In the morning, police called Joynal’s mother-in-law from his number to inform about the death.
Police found the SIM card beside the body on road no-10. But the cell phone set was not found there.
Joynal had heated exchange with someone over his cell phone on Thursday afternoon, said Nijam, quoting a friend of Joynal.
