RAPE AND MURDER OF MINOR GIRL

Mother of the nine-year old minor girl who was found murdered after rape on Sunday filed a case yesterday with Akbar Shah Police Station in the port city.

“Rabeya Khatun, mother of the deceased filed the case accusing unnamed person,” said Inspector (Investigation) Utpal Barua of Akbar Shah Police Station.

Monirul Islam Monu, 48, caretaker of the building where the girl’s body was found was shown arrested in the case, the cop added.

The body of the girl was recovered from the second floor of a six storied-building named ‘Ayesha Mamtaj Mahal’ at Bishwa Bank Residential Area of Akbar Shah on Sunday.

The injury marks on her neck and face triggered suspicion that she was raped before murder, said police officials.

Relatives said the girl went missing soon after she went to play with two friends.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Mahmud of Akbar Shah Police Station said police were interrogating several persons in this connection.
