Rana Plaza owner denied bail in graft case
The High Court yesterday rejected the bail petition of Sohel Rana, owner of Rana Plaza, in a corruption case.
In the case, a lower court in August has sentenced Rana to three years' imprisonment for not submitting his wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and fined him Tk 50,000.

The HC, however, accepted Rana's appeal against the lower court verdict for hearing, stayed the lower court fine order and called for the case record from the trial court.
Rana was arrested after Rana Plaza collapsed on April 24, 2013 that left 1,136 people killed and about 2,515 others injured.
On May 2, 2015, the ACC filed the case.
