Protest erupts over 'death threat' to teacher
Teachers and students of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur formed a human chain on the campus yesterday demanding that those who issued a “death threat” to a teacher on Thursday be identified, arrested and punished immediately.
The teachers threatened to go for tougher movements if the criminals are not arrested soon.
Ataur Rahman, a lecturer of finance and banking of the university, filed a general diary with Kotwali Police Station, saying that he received a death threat through an anonymous letter, reading, “Be careful.
Because you have not enough time,” at his office on May 26. He also got a coin of Tk 1 along with the letter in an envelop. Proctor Shahinur Rahman also confirmed it.
Officer-in-Charge Zahedur Rahman said he assured the teachers of taking steps to find out the criminals.
