Preserve Nawab Faizunnesa's legacy

Discussion told

Nawab Faizunnesa's contribution towards women's education should be revered to inspire the generations to come, said speakers at a discussion on Monday.

They also said her teachings and philanthropic activities are still relevant in present time.

Bangladesh National Museum and Philanthropist Nawab Faizunessa (PNF) Trust jointly organised the seminar at the national museum in the capital.

Department of Archaeology Director General Altaf Hossain suggested preserving her house in Comilla as a heritage site, and hoped that her legacy would pass on to the new generations.

Nawab Begum Faizunnesa Choudhurani is known for her campaign for women education and other social issues. Queen Victoria in 1889 awarded her the title of "Nawab", making her the first female Nawab in South Asia.
