Pregnant woman found dead by the road

A six-month pregnant woman was found dead beside a road near her west Jalkuri residence at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj yesterday.

Police recovered the body of Asma Begum, 30, wife of Sarwar Hosain of Barisal, and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Police detained Sarwar, a day labourer and his three co-workers.

Sarwar found the door of the house, where the couple had been living for last seven months, locked from outside when he returned from work on Friday night, said police, quoting Sarwar.

The next morning, locals found Asma's body.

The body bore some injury marks on the face and neck, said police.

Sarwar might have strangled Asma over a family feud, suspected police.
