Polls-time govt likely in Oct: Obaidul
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said there is a possibility of forming a polls-time government in October.
Talking to reporters, Obaidul, also road transport and bridges minister, said the polls-time government will be formed after the Election Commission announces the election schedule.
He said it would not be a new government, rather an incumbent one will take charge and the size of the cabinet will be smaller.
About BNP's participation in the next general election, he said, “If BNP doesn't participate that doesn't mean it'll be a unilateral election. Other parties will participate in the polls and it will be an inclusive one.”
The minister wondered why BNP is afraid of taking part in the national polls when the party is participating in the elections of the city corporations.
He also said, “BNP does not have any preparation for launching movements; people will not respond to their call.”
Over the conditions of roads, Obaidul said all the problems will be resolved rapidly. “People had a comfortable journey during Eid-ul-Fitr. We are preparing for their safe journey during Eid-ul-Azha,” he added.
