PM visits Mohiuddin Chy's residence

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday visited the residence of late Awami League leader ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury in Chittagong city and consoled his family members.

When the motorcade of Sheikh Hasina reached Mohiuddin Chowdhury's Chashma Hill residence in Sholoshahar area around 4:00pm, Mohiuddin's wife Hasina Mohiuddin, also Chittagong Mohila League President, his two sons AL central organising secretary Mahibul Hasan Nawfel and Borhanul Hasan Chowdhury Salehin received her.

During her 40-minute stay, the prime minister announced that she would give Tk 5 lakh to each of the 10 families who have lost their loved ones in a stampede during the qulkhwani of Mohiuddin at Rima Convention Centre at Askar Dighirpar in the city on December 18.

She handed over the cheques for financial assistance to the victim family members. The prime minister also embraced and consoled them there.

Mohiuddin, former Chittagong City Corporation mayor and city Awami League president, died on December 15 at the age of 73.
