Nine lives lost in four dists
Nine people were killed and 24 others injured in road crashes in four districts yesterday and on Sunday.
In Gopalganj, four people were killed and 20 others injured as a BRTC bus collided head-on with another bus on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Shagosira area of Muksudpur upazila on Sunday.
The dead are Monoj Kumar Roy, 45, of Madaripur, Munni Akter, 18, of Bhola, Kowsar Akhand, 15, of Barguna and Abul Hossan Sikder, 50, of Patuakhali.
Monoj and BRTC bus driver Abul Hossan died on the spot while Munni and Kowsar were declared dead at Rajor Upazila Health Complex.
In Bogra, three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between two trucks on Bogra-Dhaka highway near Fatkir Bridge of Shajahanpur yesterday.
The deceased are Mokles Ali, 35, of Holakanda village, Abdul Karim, 45, of Noagaon and truck driver Yunus Ali, 38.
In Lalmonirhat Sadar, a local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader was killed when his motorcycle slipped on the Rangpur-Kurigram road as it was wet due to rain in Mostofi area on Sunday night.
The deceased, Mohibul Islam Mohon, 27, of T&T Para in the town, was the joint secretary of Lalmonirhat Sadar unit JCD.
In Jessore, a trader was killed and another injured as a brick-laden vehicle hit a motorcycle they were riding in Nangarpur village under Bagharpara upazila on Sunday evening, reports UNB. The dead is Abdul Gaffar, 35, of Pantapara village of the upazila.
