Youth held for killing woman

A youth was arrested yesterday for stabbing a woman to death in Chattogram city's Akbar Shah area, police said.

Shahina Begum, 35, was from the area, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukdar of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Police Outpost.

The arrestee -- Md Shahjahan, 25 -- was the private tutor of Shahina's daughter, said Sub-inspector Md Sayem of Akbar Shah Police Station.

Locals first detained Shahjahan while he was stabbing Shahina on the road beside a mosque around 3:30pm, the SI said.

Quoting locals, the SI said Shahina told Shahjahan to stop giving tuitions to her daughter as she found that he had an affair with the girl.

This incident led to the killing, suspect the SI.
