Will construct another DMCH unit if voted to power: PM
The government has undertaken a plan to construct another unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to provide treatment to 5,000 additional patients, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said yesterday.
“We will construct another unit of the DMCH if voted to power in next parliament elections,” she said.
The PM made the pledge while distributing ambulances and other transport vehicles to government hospitals and educational institutions at her office.
The premier handed over the keys of 33 ambulances, ten water ambulances and 98 four-wheel drives to different upazila health complexes.
She also distributed keys of 200 motorcycles for field-level statisticians of the health department.
Health Minister Mohammed Nasim also spoke on the occasion, while State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque was present.
Sheikh Hasina said the government would construct multi-storey buildings at upazila levels for government officials. The Public Works Department has already been asked to prepare a plan in this regard, she said.
The premier asked officials concerned to ensure proper maintenance of the ambulances and other vehicles as those are state property.
