Three killed in separate road crashes

Three people were killed in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Sylhet, two motorcyclists were killed when their bike hit a truck parked beside Sylhet-Tamabil highway in Darbast area of Jaintiapur upazila.

Nur Uddin, 55, and Hannan Miah, 60, from Darbast, died on the way to a local hospital, said police.

Following the incident, agitated people set fire to the truck and blocked the road for an hour.

In Gopalganj, a man was killed as a truck ran him over on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Pona village of Kashiani upazila.

Mohammad Ali, 50, a muezzin of a local mosque, died instantly, reports our Faridpur correspondent.

He was going to the mosque for morning prayers, Kashiani police quoted locals as saying.
