PBI arrests driver from Cumilla

The bus driver, who pushed Rezaul Karim Roni off a bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on August 27, was arrested yesterday in Balutoba area of Cumilla.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested the Lusai Paribahan bus driver, Mohammad Didar alias Didarul Alam, 42, around 8:15pm.

Didar along with his helper, Manik Sarkar, pushed passenger Rezaul off the bus on the highway in Bhatiari area of Sitakunda. Rezaul was killed on the spot, near city gate area in Chattogram, as the bus was driven over him.

PBI Inspector Santosh Kumar Chakma said they arrested Didar based on confessional statement given by the helper, Manik, who was arrested on September 6.

During primary interrogation, Didar confessed to his involvement in the incident, the inspector said.
